He was one of the best French road cyclists of his era, Mottet won a total of 67 races, including the Tour de Romandie in 1990, and has 8 participations in the Tour de France. His best results in the Tour de France were the 4th positions in 1987 and 1991. He has 3 stage wins, 1 in 1990 and 2 in 1991. He also finished 2nd on the podium of the 1990 Giro d'Italia.

Eric Vanderaerden

Eric Vanderaerden is a retired road cyclist from the town of Lummen, Belgium. He was a considerable talent, winning the prologue time trial of the Vuelta and the Tour de France in his professional debut year 1983. As for classics, he won the Ronde van Vlaanderen in 1985 and Paris-Roubaix in 1987. In the Tour de France, his participation in the 1985 edition was a strong one, beating the later winner Bernard Hinault in a time trial stage. The next year, he won the green jersey.

Jean-Paul van Poppel

Jean-Paul van Poppel is a former Dutch cyclist, who was nicknamed Popeye. Van Poppel was one of the most successful Dutch road sprinters. In all great tours, he won stages in mass sprints, sometimes from positions that appeared lost. In the Tour de France he won 9 stages altogether. In 1988 he won 4 stages, the highest number by a Dutch cyclist won in one tour. Van Poppel won the maillot vert in the 1987 Tour de France.

Marco Giovannetti

Marco Giovannetti (born 4 April 1962) is an Italian former professional road bicycle racer and Olympic gold medalist who won the Vuelta a España in 1990. He has also won stages at the Tour de Suisse and the Giro d'Italia. Giovannetti was born in Milan, Italy to a Tuscan family. Early in his career as an amateur, Giovannetti won the gold medal in the Team Road Race at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California, together with Claudio Vandelli, Marcello Bartalini and Eros Poli.
