Tom Simpson

Tom Simpson (30 November 1937–13 July 1967) was an English road racing cyclist who died of exhaustion on the slopes of Mont Ventoux during the 13th stage of the Tour de France in 1967. The post mortem found that he had taken amphetamines and alcohol, a diuretic combination which proved fatal when combined with the heat, the hard climb of the Ventoux and a stomach complaint.

Thomas Dekker (cyclist)

Thomas Dekker is a Dutch professional road racing cyclist. His specialty is the individual time trial, but he is also a strong climber. He is a former member of the Rabobank cycling team, having been a professional cyclist since 2005. He also represented his country at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. Though born in Amsterdam, Dekker grew up from a very young age in the small village of Dirkshorn. In his relatively short career Dekker has already won two events on the UCI ProTour.

Luke Roberts

Luke Roberts (born 25 January 1977) is an Australian racing cyclist specialising in both track cycling and road bicycle racing. Born in Adelaide, South Australia, he resides both in Adelaide and in Cologne, Germany. Coming from a cycle racing family, he started competitive cycling at the age of 13, and turned professional in 2002. He was a member of the Comnet Senges team (2002-2004), and of Team CSC from 2005 to 2007.

François Faber was a Luxembourgian cyclist. He was born in France. He was the first foreigner to win the Tour de France in 1909, and his record of winning 5 consecutive stages still stands. He died in World War I while fighting for France.

Michael Barry (cyclist)

Michael Barry is a Canadian professional road racing cyclist for UCI ProTeam Team Columbia – HTC. Previous to this, he spent several years with the Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team. He was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. His father, Michael (Mike) Barry Sr. , was a racer himself in England in the 1950s. Until 2006 he ran a specialty bike store and manufactured a line of hand-made bicycle frames under his own Mariposa brand.

Rory Sutherland

Rory Sutherland is a professional road bicycle racer from Canberra, Australia, riding for UCI Continental team OUCH Pro Cycling Team. In 2007, he won both stages 2 and 3 of the Redlands Bicycle Classic, and also finished 2nd in the Australian National Time Trial Championships. Sutherland began racing at the age of 14 and previously rode in Europe with the Rabobank Team from 2001 to 2005.
