Nayagan

Nayagan is an Indian film written and directed by Mani Ratnam. Nayagan means 'The Hero' or 'The Leader' in Tamil. Nayagan is based on The Godfather and real-life Bombay underworld don - Varada or Varadarajan Mudaliar, and sympathetically depicts the struggle of South Indians living in Bombay (now Mumbai). Nayagan has been called "The Godfather" of Tamil cinema. The lead character is played by Kamal Haasan, and the film also stars Saranya, Karthika, Nassar, Delhi Ganesh and Janagaraj.

Thevar Magan

Dhevar Magan (1992) is a Tamil feature film by Bharathan, and written by Kamal Hassan. Critically considered by some to be amongst the best films released in the Indian film industry, the film stars Sivaji Ganesan, Kamal Haasan, Nasser, Revathi and Gouthami in acclaimed roles. The film was also a commercial hit upon release. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by Ilaiyaraaja. The movie was later remade into Hindi as Virasat by Priyadarshan.

Mumbai Express

Mumbai Express is a Tamil film directed by Singeetham Sreenivasa Rao, starring Kamal Haasan and Manisha Koirala. This film was produced by Kamal Haasan himself and music was composed by Ilayaraaja. This movie went into the race of best film on Tamil New Year 2005 but miserably bombed leaving Chandramukhi, Anniyan, and Priyasakhi successful. Also made in Hindi as Mumbai Xpress, it was not successful there too. The hindi version was supervised by Faisal Saif.

Avvai Shanmugi is a Tamil film directed by K.S. Ravikumar. The film stars Kamal Haasan, Meena, Gemini Ganesan, Delhi Ganesh, Nagesh, Manivannan, and Nassar. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by Deva. It was an Indian take on the successful comedy, Mrs. Doubtfire. The film had a big star cast and was a critical and commercial success. It was released on Deepavali day 1996 together with Prabu Deva's Mr. Romeo. A year later Kamal remade the movie as Chachi 420 in Hindi.
