Irina Spîrlea (born March 26, 1974 in Bucharest) is a former tennis player from Romania, who turned professional in 1990.
She won four singles and six doubles titles during her career. The right-hander reached her highest individual ranking on
the WTA Tour on October 13, 1997, when she became number 7 in the world. She retired in 2000.
Gheorghe Hagi (born February 5, 1965 in Săcele), is a Romanian former football player of aromanian origin. He was famous for
his passing, close control, long shots and was regarded as one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe during the 1980s
and 1990s. Nicknamed "The Maradona of the Carpathians", he is considered a hero in his homeland as well as in Turkey. He has
won his country's "Player of the Year" award six times, and was recently named Romanian football player of the century.
Edina Gallovits is a Romanian female tennis player of Hungarian descent. She is currently at her career high ranking of No.
54, a ranking achieved on April 28, 2008. She achieved her best Grand Slam performance at the 2007 French Open and 2008 Australian
Open by making the second round. In juniors, she reached a career high of No. 7 and made the final of the prestigious Orange
Bowl Championships, losing to Vera Zvonareva.
Ioana Raluca Olaru is a professional Romanian tennis player. On July 27, 2009, she reached her highest WTA singles ranking
of 53. After ending 2008 at 126, her recent victory in the $100,000 Marseilles ITF tournament places her in provisional rank
of 73 going into The Championships, Wimbledon. Over her career, Olaru has won 9 ITF singles and 6 ITF doubles titles, but
no WTA titles.
Daniel Vasile Petrescu is a former international football player most famous for having played for the English Premiership
club Chelsea. Other clubs included Steaua Bucureşti and Sheffield Wednesday. Petrescu received 95 international caps for the
Romanian national side. He is currently the manager of Romanian Liga 1 team Unirea Urziceni.
